Massage has a
positive effect on the body‘s physiological and psychological
Functions.
Some of the Key Benefits of massage are:
Massage for
Health
There are many different
types/modalities of massage. Here are the modalities I work in and a
description of what they are. All massages can be done at my home
office located in Kew Gardens NY, or in the comfort of your home…NYC,
Long Island and Upstate New York.
Swedish/European:
The term "Swedish Massage"
refers to a variety
of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying
pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in
the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.
Amma Massage: The word Am-ma is an
ancient Chinese word meaning “Push-pull”. Amma massage dates back
about five thousand years.
AMMA Therapy®, founded and developed
by Tina Sohn, is an extremely specialized form of massage therapy
that combines deep tissue manipulation with the application of
pressure, friction and touch to specific points and the channels on
which they are found. These channels are the pathways through which
energy passes throughout the body.
Amma Therapy®
is very much like acupuncture it focus on movement of energy by
using points and channels to remove blockages and free energy (Qi).
Reflexology
- A unique method of using the thumb and fingers to stimulate reflex
areas
that relate to different parts of the body based in feet, hands and
face.
Chair Massage - By far, the most convenient method of massage therapy. Chair
massage
can be done as little as 10minutes and long as 1 hour. A chair
massage is done while the client is fully clothed. A chair massage
promotes better circulation and muscle stimulation. This form of
massage reduces tension in the back, neck and shoulders; thus
providing deep relaxation. Chair massage can be done in small
locations, where a table may be too large. |
